Linux 3.0 has been released by the founder of Linux,Linus Torvalds through his account + google. In the new operating system that can be used for free, there aresome differences compared to the previous version.
The first difference is especially striking is the numbering system kernel, which is the core of open source operatingsystem GNU / Linux. If the previous version using threenumbers, so this time it only uses two numbers. Instead of using the name of Linux 2.6.40, Torvalds prefers figure3.0.
Torvalds said the replacement of kernel numbers will not be a problem. “The bottom line 3.0 was just renumbering, we are not doing a KDE or Gnome-4-3 anything here,” said Torvalds.
But some see that renumbering the kernel can provide anumber of problems. Many previous kernel packagestrack the latest linux version by looking for ’2 .6 ‘. In orderto overcome these problems, the need for renewal.
In response, Torvalds said that it was not a problem. “As I have mentioned several times, there are no specialfeatures or incompatibility associated with the versionnumber changes,” wrote Torvalds. According to him, the criticism is a way to bring down the prestige of Linux iscurrently the 20 th birthday.
In addition to a different numbering system kernel, Linux3.0 perform addition of backend storage for the XenHypervisor, renewal of Btrfs file system, and the increaseof the number of drivers for a variety of graphics processors and peripherals.
